The Nature Games

  • Programme of events

Entitled The Nature Games this year’s Wexford Cruinniú na nÓg will use gaming as the creative medium to explore climate action, biodiversity and sustainability.

On 15th June children and young people aged 0-18 are invited to take part in free workshops across the county. Our five county libraries will link with IMIRT (the national representative body for gaming) to host STEAM workshops for teenagers led by gamers and game developers, followed by ‘meet the gamer’ sessions. Wexford library will also host Galway Game Jam, where twenty young people will collaborate to develop a game in a day that explores saving Wexford’s environmental future.

Additionally, there will be numerous drama, music, painting and crafting workshops aimed at children aged 0-12 held in a range of venues county-wide. These workshops will use various art-forms to explore climate action and nature, while also considering the creative components of game-making such as character development, costume design, sound design, script writing, rule-creation and set design.
