Ancient West Wicklow Story-telling

Join us to hear the stories of Ancient West Wicklow and learn how Baltinglass earned the name ‘The Hillfort Capital of Ireland’.

We will journey back in time, some 5,000 years ago, when Stone Age settlers first made homes, places of worship and so much more in the Slaney Valley. Discover the ancient people, native trees, plants and language of Éiru.

See the landscape as it would have stood in ancient times on my giant colouring-in station. Allow your colours to take you for a walk around the Baltinglass, Kilranelagh and the Glen of Imaal hillfort complex.

Finally, for the young treasure hunters, I invite you to try our mini dig  and find ancient artefacts that reveal long-lost secrets of Ancient West Wicklow.

The story-telling will begin at 11.30am, for twenty minutes. Following that, there will be an opportunity to colour-in our giant map a mini treasure hunt dig!
