Clay Nature Creations at Miltown Malbay Library

  • Workshop

Learn the skill of hand building and decorating a clay tile with Michelle Fallon at Miltown Malbay Library.

It is possible to make almost anything out of clay and it is easy to use once you learn some basic skills. Clay (made of water and minerals) is a lovely natural material to work with.

You will learn how attach pieces, sculpt, make imprints, interesting textures or patterns, and how to carve out features. You will be shown how to use some traditional tools and to explore and experiment with recycled and small household objects to use as tools, which you can use to decorate your tile.

Nature is made up of many different aspects and participants will be encouraged to focus on areas that are meaningful to them and incorporate their nature inspired ideas into their tile design, it could be trees or animals, fish, planets, flowers, fossils, shells, insects etc.

Each tile will be individual to the maker, reflecting their interest and fascination with an aspect of the natural world which will be meaningful to you.

Participants will discover ways to make your nature-inspired ideas creatively on a clay tile in a friendly supportive environment and have fun trying new things.
