Hidden Gems

The students of Killeshandra N.S. have been collecting folklore and stories from older people in the locality and surrounding areas. They’ve collected old photographs, written memories, artefacts and stories of the past.

As part of our exhitibion on 15 June, we will create an audio-visual installation, a photo exhibition, a showcase of old artefacts and a live dance performance as a response to some of the themes that have come up in the collected stories. 

Musician and visual artist Ultan O’Brien will work with us to collect sound samples of interviews with local older people and will take photos/videos of the local area juxtaposing modern, newly taken photos with the older, collected photos. 

Dancer and folklorist Edwina Guckian will work with the students to create a new dance for the exhibition
