Pathways, is a dance workshop series by Undercurrent Artistic Director, Kate Wilson in collaboration with St Michaels School, Castlerea, supported by Roscommon County Council.
Workshops began in January this year with gentle guided movement explorations and group games that focus on building confidence and self-expression. These playful and inclusive workshops have encouraged participants to gently expand their motor and coordination skills as well as communication and collaboration skills. The sessions are framed by meditations and gentle relaxation exercises, deepening self-awareness and encouraging self-care.
The project culminates in a sharing at the school for students and staff, followed by the launch of the project video on the 15th June on the Roscommon Arts Office YouTube channel on 15th June as part of the national Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations.
Undercurrent creates safe and inclusive spaces where participants can celebrate moving together, enjoying connection and the self confidence that comes with shared movement.
Founded in 2016, Undercurrent is dedicated to research and performance that explores experiences of mobility with diverse practitioners. Work continues to challenge audience perceptions about inclusion in the arts through innovative theatre and gallery-based performances. Featured on national Social Practice Toolkit, outreach in community, seminars and training are integral to company work.
