Crochet for beginners

  • Workshop

As part of My Creative Wish a 12th class student from Cloughduv National School wished to learn more about Crochet, so this Cruinniu na nÓg their wish is coming true when they and 9 others attend a workshop on fashion in Bandon Library.

Learning a new skill is amazing and Crochet is a craft which introduces different types of yarns, combines colours and textures, keeps alive ancient traditions and is (so far) the only needlecraft that can’t be replicated by machines.

It is a traditional skill that is important to pass on to keep it alive in an age where everything has become mechanised or computerised.

Participants will be taught the basic chain stitch and shown how to turn this into a creative project such as a snake, a bracelet or necklace.
